AAD Bookie Awards 2011 Best Western Romance of the Year
“Chase is a wonderful hero” Jayne, Dear Author
What happens in Vegas…sometimes follows you home.
Pro bull rider Chase Reese knew things move faster than an eight-second ride in Las Vegas. He just never expected to be driving home with a national championship under his belt and a wedding band on his left hand with no clue how it got there.
Yet he can’t complain about the stripper bride beside him. From the moment his buddies bought him a lap dance from her, her trembles told him there was more to her than stiletto heels.
Leesa Santiago has met the perfect guy. Her timing couldn’t be worse though. If it was just their explosive sex, she could walk away. But from the moment her lap dance brought her this close to his baby blues, she was hooked. She can’t lie that she couldn’t be happier to bear his name—or guiltier that she’s using it and his Oklahoma farm to hide out from mob hit men.
That’s before Chase’s family gets involved. And his determination to do the right thing pushes her to do the one thing that will keep him safe. Break his heart.
Do cowboy boots mix with stripper heels? And can a love that started out on the wrong foot end up on the right one? That’s the risk you take waking up in Vegas.
Warning: Contains one happy-ending lap dance that will make you squirm, some pretty hot sex between two strangers who also happen to be married to each other, and a huge surprise conclusion.
Ride Signature Recipe:
Cowboy Butter Cookies
Because my Oklahoma cowboy hero is so sweet, I chose this versatile cookie recipe for Ride. I grew up eating these cookies. It was my grandmother’s recipe and my mother used it for the Christmas cookies we’d make together each year. I also remember heart cookies on Valentines Day and chicks on Easter. It’s still my favorite today and I have so many different cookie cutters because of it, including the newest additions to my collection–a cowboy boot and a Texas longhorn.
½ lb Butter
1 Cup Sugar
2 ½ Cups Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Lemon Extract
Preheat 325 degree oven
Cream butter. Add sugar then egg & extract. Add flour & baking powder. Chill dough. Roll out flat on a floured board. Cut into shapes. Bake on ungreased pan 8-10 minutes (or until just beginning to brown).
Can be decorated with sprinkles before baking or iced after baking.
“strike(s) just the right balance… I enjoyed reading the book. Chase is a wonderful hero and I think he’s made a good choice in Leesa. The prose is smoothly written, the pacing is good, there aren’t any extraneous subplots mucking up the action and I like the background details seamlessly worked into the story.” Jayne, Dear Author

“RIDE is a brilliant addition to Cat Johnson’s STUDS IN SPRURS series…Ms. Johnson instills the perfect amount of sexual tension, surprising twists, uncertainty and longing throughout RIDE so the plot flows beautifully and leaves the reader with a sense of hopefulness and joy and at times even sadness.” Crissy Dionne, Romance Junkies
“This is a new-to-me author, and after reading this delightful story, it won’t be the last. I was drawn in by Ms. Johnson’s humorous, emotional story. If you enjoy a hot romance, humor, and a book you won’t forget, then come along for the ride.” Sunflower, LASR Reviews
“Johnson’s stories have such great warmth, even when the topics are racy, even when the characters get down and dirty, and especially with all the tension building up to a love scene! Her humor is uplifting and it’s a joy to read herbooks. In short they are exactly what I look for in a romance! And this book wasn’t an exception.” Niina, For the Love of Reading
